A pelagic trawler of Wärtsilä design, delivered under her own power over 8,100 nautical miles from Norway to Chile.

The ØSTERBRIS is a beautiful vessel of Wärtsilä Ship Design: a 74-metre purse seiner and pelagic trawler, built in 2014 at the CEMRE shipyard in Tuzla, Turkey. With a 4,500 kW Wärtsilä main engine and an ice class, she is built for demanding work on northern fishing grounds. Her new home port lies on the other side of the world, in Talcahuano, Chile. Redwise delivered her there under her own power and on her own keel.
The ØSTERBRIS departed Bergen with a Redwise crew of six for a transatlantic delivery voyage to Chile. The route crossed the North Atlantic to the Caribbean and passed through the Panama Canal. From there she sailed south along the Pacific coast of South America to Talcahuano.
In total she covered approximately 8,100 nautical miles in around 850 sailing hours over some 39 days, with a bunker stop in Panama.

Leaving Bergen, a favourable weather window allowed the ØSTERBRIS to take the northabout route, passing north of Scotland into the open Atlantic rather than heading south through the North Sea and the English Channel.
On the approach to Panama, she faced headwinds and an adverse current, which slowed the final stretch of the crossing. On arrival she anchored off Cristóbal, at the Atlantic entrance to the canal, where she also took on a small amount of fuel for the remaining leg.
After transiting the Panama Canal, she set course south along the coasts of Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. She arrived in Talcahuano in May.
With her arrival in Talcahuano, the voyage of the ØSTERBRIS is complete, and she is ready for the next chapter on the Chilean coast. We wish her owners every success with the vessel, and thank them for placing their trust in Redwise. Our thanks also go to the captain and his crew for their dedication throughout the voyage, and to the Redwise Operations team ashore for their support from start to finish.
