Redwise is the specialist in maritime services. Discover our expertise now.
At Redwise, we specialize in the full management of ship delivery projects. We offer 24/7 operational support for the mobilization or demobilization of any seaworthy, or to be made seaworthy, vessel under its own power and keel. From our office in Huizen, we ensure thorough preparations, including risk assessments, voyage planning, and registration in close collaboration with our clients. Each project is executed with the utmost care, with safety as a central focus.
Redwise manages the entire mobilization or demobilization from start to finish on its own power and keel of every seaworthy vessel. Preparations start at our office in Huizen, Netherlands. Starting with an initial risk assessment in the bidding phase, after being awarded the contract, we prepare the journey with a detailed voyage plan, manage the registration, order provisions, fuels, lubricants, filters, and inventory for the journey in close consultation with the client. In the days leading up to departure, our superintendent and the crew familiarize themselves with your ship. They implement our ISM, ISPS, and MLC systems, test operational and safety systems, and make the ship seaworthy for the journey. Throughout the journey, our Operations Department in the Netherlands provides continuous support to the crew, handles port formalities, and reports daily position, progress, and weather conditions supplemented with real-time satellite tracking. Daily maintenance is a regular part of each delivery journey. We treat your ship as if it were our own. In the case of further repairs or malfunctions, we seek the best solution in consultation with the owner and suppliers, if necessary in consultation with class and insurers. All matters regarding agents, bunker ports, canal passages such as Panama, Suez, and others are arranged and pre-financed by us. Upon arrival at the destination, our crew remains on board as required for a thorough handover to the owners. At your request, they can stay longer for the familiarization of the new crew. In short, Redwise takes over your ship at the departure port, guides the entire journey with care and attention, and hands over the ship neatly at the destination port. We keep you fully informed about the progress throughout the journey.
Depending on the situation and time, delivery voyages are carried out under the flag desired by the owner, or Redwise fully arranges the registration under a temporary flag for the journey. If the new flag is only required for the duration of the journey, the registration is canceled after arrival. Redwise takes full responsibility for this registration and cancellation, acting for and on behalf of the owners.
Permission for the journey is crucial for ships designed and certified for a limited working area. When these ships need to be mobilized to a new working area, Redwise arranges this "single voyage authorization" in consultation with the client, class, insurers, and flag state. This requires specific conditions, including a thoughtful voyage plan including a risk analysis, additional measures to increase seaworthiness and safety, additional communication systems, routing, and mutual trust. Redwise takes full responsibility for this process, including coordination with all involved parties in close consultation with the owners and arranges dispensations where it is responsible. With our rich experience, built since 1906, Redwise offers the right solutions based on deep expertise and the trust of these parties.
For every delivery voyage, it is essential that the ship is adequately insured. Often this is done by the owner, but it can also be arranged by Redwise. In these cases, the shipyard has no voyage insurance or the owner only has a policy for its own working area. Thanks to our reputation and long-term relationships with our insurance broker and insurers, Redwise is able to arrange the necessary insurances according to the conditions customary in the London insurance market. In addition to H&M and P&I insurances, we also provide War risk coverage, Kidnap & Ransom, and towing insurances for owners.
We regularly conduct inspections on behalf of our clients to determine the condition of a ship and whether it is ready or can be made ready for the journey. This gives both the future owner and ourselves a good idea of what is needed for a safe journey.
If ships have been out of service for a long time, reactivation is a necessity. Starting with a thorough inspection followed by consultation with the client, class, insurers, and flag state, a reactivation plan is then developed. Reactivation is subsequently carried out by our own crew led by one of our superintendents on-site and with the involvement of subcontractors and service providers where necessary. Often a costly affair, the reactivation is concluded with a sea trial and full certification of the ship, after which the journey to its destination can begin.
Redwise provides equipment for ships where it is not fully available but needed for the journey. Essential navigation, firefighting, and safety equipment are self-evident, but also items such as mobile Satcom C sets, Iridium voice and data communication, or complete Starlink sets are included, as well as a 24/7 response service. Other items include a Marcus net instead of a MOB boat, medicine chests for the journey, extra cooling and freezing capacity, SOPP kits, and immersion suits. With these careful preparations, Redwise ensures that each ship is not only ready for the journey but also fully supported with the best means for safety and communication. Thus, we fulfill our promise "We Deliver" with each project anew.
The crew is an essential part, not only during the delivery voyage but also afterward. Therefore, we offer both individual officers and complete crews, tailored to the specific needs of your ship and project. Whether you are looking for crew members to supplement or strengthen your own crew, for specialist roles, or need a full crew because you do not yet have a crew – such as with a start-up or a bareboat charter – Redwise is ready for you. For decades, Redwise has provided crew training, making us a trusted partner for many returning clients. These trainings, offered during and after the delivery voyage, are designed to optimally prepare crews. We also offer training on-site and for trial voyage captains and crew. On-board training offers a unique opportunity for the owner's crew to become familiar with the ship while sailing so that they are operational immediately upon arrival. This hands-on approach can be supplemented with post-arrival training provided by our experienced captains and chief engineers, specialized in the type of ship in question.
Navigating through High Risk Areas (HRA) in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Gulf of Guinea involves additional risks. At Redwise, we take the safety of our crew and the ships very seriously. Therefore, our captains carefully follow the guidelines from our "Redwise Anti-Piracy Handbook" and implement security measures in line with the most recent Best Management Practices. Our approach includes setting up a safe room, equipped with a satellite phone for emergencies, engaging armed guards from leading security companies, and applying protection measures on deck and around the accommodation. This layered security strategy ensures that we are always prepared for potential threats and that the risk of piracy is minimized. At Redwise, we believe in proactive protection and preparation to ensure a safe passage through areas where piracy may be a concern. Our dedicated team and carefully chosen security partners work hand in hand to ensure that every journey is not only successful but also safe.
